Welcome to Day 2 of my Sugar-Free Sketching project! Together we will inspire and support each other!
Today I drew some delicious sugar-free muesli that I had for breakfast. It’s really good. Here’s how I make it:
Home-Made Sugar-Free Muesli
In a big bowl mix jumbo oats (about 500g), desiccated coconut (about 200g), pumpkin seeds (about 150g), sunflower seeds (about 150g), almonds (about 200g) and hazelnuts (about 200g) and a good tablespoon of cinnamon. The amounts are approximate and I never measure, I just throw everything together. I am often missing one or more ingredients but I don’t worry about that.
In a small saucepan I melt about half a cup or about five tablespoons of coconut oil. I add about two teaspoons each of almond and vanilla essence. Pour it into the dry ingredients and mix well.
Spread it out onto a shallow baking tray and put it into a hot oven for about 20 minutes but be sure to stir well every now and then.
I serve it with walnuts, apples and bananas. Walnuts are like heroin in my house so there were none this morning. We buy them from a big German discount retailer and they are so fresh they are irresistible. In fact you can get everything for the muesli at said discount retailer!
It used to be me who made the muesli but one day I wasn’t around and Marcel, my husband, was desperate. So he made it and luckily it turned out he was better at it than me. So now he makes it every time. Hurray!
Because of this sugar-free sketching project I am going to buy something fancy for lunch and draw that too. Well, I might. Watch this space!
Oh and by the way…I really appreciate your comments. Join me – we’ll manage it together!
