Hello my friends and fellow sketchers,
I am deep in comic-writing, with the hope of putting Issue 4 in the post for you in mid-September, but I am dying to tell you about my week in Greece with my family. LOTS of sketching was had, by me and my two younger kids Paddy and Olivia, aged 24 and 22 respectively. But that will have to wait!
However, what can’t wait is signing up for my new once-a-month sketch class with my Sketch Club, before the end of the month. Hitherto I have taught four classes a month – sometimes eight, with the illustration classes – but one of my goals in conducting the latter was to release my illustration mojo. That happened. It has been much to my joy, but what do you do with a newly-minted mojo? You use it, of course! And making my beloved comic is now taking centre stage. At 58, there’s no time like the present, but something had to give, and that was three of the four monthly classes.
But you can still join me once a month…read on. (If you are already a member, don’t do anything – it will automatically switch to the new lower rate on 1st September.)
The classes will be starting 14th September 2026 at 5.00pm GMT+1 (which is Irish time).
- Once a month on the second Monday of the month
- 90 minutes to 2 hours long
- 5.00pm GMT+1, then 5.00pm GMT after October
- Recorded and sent to everyone afterwards
- Simple, clear instruction on the use of ink and watercolour
- Subjects are drawn from my sketches, made from life, all topics covered
- Landscape, buildings, perspective, people, food, water, flowers, cafés…everything and anything will be in the mix
- Your suggestions are very welcome – I LOVE when you send me ideas for class
- Free, pre-class explainer available to ALL takes place on Monday 7th September at 5.00pm GMT+1 – what you’ll need etc.
- €12.50 per month (that’s US$14.57 at today’s exchange rate) charged on 1st of each month
- Includes access to my Sketch Club via my private Facebook group – and our wonderful, friendly global community. Live “social” chats every so often!
- Link to sign up: https://roisincure.com/product/sketchclub/ – make sure to sign up before 1st September to be included in next month’s class
To be included in the free explainer class, you should send me an email with “explainer class” in the subject, so I can find it easily.
Are the classes suitable for a beginner?
Depends! I will send a recorded class aimed at beginners to anyone who has no experience with watercolour and ink. If they watch it, and buy the things I recommend, they will be fine to join in.
Are they suitable for children?
I would say from about 14 upwards: my two younger kids did them at 15 and 18 respectively and loved every minute. I expect my students to be respectful (ie. gentle!) with their fountain pens and watercolours.
How long do I have the recording?
I would like to say forever, but realistically a couple of years.
Can I get in touch with you?
Better – you can join one of our Socials live online (unrecorded!), or tune into one of my lives on Instagram and chat in real time that way, and if you prefer email, you can contact me that way. Or comment below!
Do you give feedback?
I do, if you ask for it – but only in the Facebook group, because I wouldn’t be able to manage any other way.
Okay – back to Issue 4 of Wild Atlantic Ink!
