Saturday 16th May
Today in my Zoom class I show some great students the benefits of a limited palette. I really enjoy spending time with them, albeit through a fibre optic cable connection. It is great to be with other adults after all this time – especially adults who like sketching and all things art, and it feels like a privilege to share the things I have picked up along the way to such a nice bunch, who make me feel very appreciated.
Friday 15th May
I go into Marcel’s office. I am thinking of all the baking that has been going on in our house over the lockdown period: we have a 15-year-old who loves baking, and I have not turned any of it down. “I am as fat as a seal,” I say. “Seals are beautiful!” says Marcel, ever loyal, and then realises that might sound bad. He adds, “But of course you’re not as fat as a seal!” I don’t know. I just know that between one thing and another, I have not been exercising as I should. Every time I look down our drive there is a fit person walking briskly past. That never happened before.
The Covid Two Kilos. None of us is stronger than it.
No no no you have it backwards… we are the privileged ones to be your students and it is a most enjoyable class albeit zoom! I very much appreciate this golden opportunity. You have such a gift… not all artists are able to teach… you blend your point seamlessly as you paint.
Oh and about the seal thing… we are all in the same boat but for me I’m thinking whale🤦♀️… can’t worry now will deal with it when we are allowed out. Loved the class.. ellipses are hard…. practice practice…

I really enjoyed today too, I’ve also got a baking child, he is 14 and vegan and loves to create sumptuous treats. I’m trying to avoid them…

Loved the class Róisín, it’s a great group and I’m learning so much. I’m going around looking at everything with new eyes but struggling with deciding what to leave out!
