Humans are creative. You are, I am, we all are. In the busy-ness of life, it can be hard to scratch the creative itch: but sketching is a lovely way to satisfy your creative urge. You can take your sketching kit anywhere, and capture what is before you, even on the busiest of days. I sometimes sketch twice a day, in between my work tasks and looking after my family. It brings me a huge amount of pleasure, and without sketching my life would be considerably less colourful – literally.
I begin a course for the beginner artist on Monday 1st June 11.00am-1.00pm IST, which is Dublin time (UTC + 1).Time converter at worldtimebuddy.com
There will be a class at the same time for six weeks, at the same time, and you can take a class one at a time, or you can buy a block of six, in which case you get a class free. Each week I send you a worksheet and a summary of the topic we’re going to cover. This class is for those who have never lifted a brush! I will go through the kit you’ll need, the basics of drawing, how to get started in watercolour, then as we progress I will show you simple ways to conquer subjects you will encounter in typical scenes – foliage, skies, reflections, persepective, composition, street scenes, all at a pace that will ensure you don’t get left behind. You can ask whatever you like as we work, and every so often I make sure everyone is keeping up. If they’re not, I slow down! So there’s zero chance you will be overwhelmed. What’s more, the numbers in each class are small, so that I can look after you well during the two-hour period. In my experience, the same people come back to class each week, whether or not they have booked in advance, so you’ll also get to know people in the same boat as you. You’ll be in good hands.
Once you book, I will let you know what you’ll need to buy, to give you a bit of time to be prepared. Classes cost €25 for two hours, or €125 for six. Put “zoom” into the search bar and the list will come up! The aim of the class is to prepare you and give you confidence to venture into the great outdoors and sketch your own scenes.
I look forward to seeing you!
