Having painted this flower in a pretty white jug, it occurred to me that apple blossom is a popular subject in Oriental art. I racked my brains to see if I had any scraps of Oriental fabric lying around, and then I remembered this beautiful pot, which has accompanied me on every house move since I was a teenager. I love the blue and white patterns of the pot and the Douglas Fir table, which are a perfect foil for the delicate flowers.
